“Verily Allah, with Him (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and know that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware.”

Virtues of Sacred Month of Muharram

Muharram is the 1st month of the Hijri year. This month is one of the 4 months ordained by Allah as sacred, namely, Muharram, Rajab, Dhul Qa'da and Dhul Hijja. No crimes of injustice, oppression or fighting is permitted in these months. In the month of Muharram, many major events in the history of Allah's Prophets has taken place and so is a month of great blessings. 

'Not now, I'm not ready'

For us Muslims, we should take a lesson from the deaths of people, especially young people, and realise that at some point death will also come upon us - not when we are ready for it, but when it has been decreed for us. Many people today focus on how to live longer and how to enjoy their lives to the fullest, but they neglect correcting their own selves until it is too late. At the time the Angel of Death comes to any one of us, we certainly will not be able to say, "Not now, I'm not ready."

Allah the Most High & Exalted says: “By the Dawn; By the ten nights” [Surah Al-Fajr:1-2]

This oath substantiates the greatness and sacredness of these ten nights in the eyes of Allah. This is an extraordinary oath; it is very significant and the wise men can understand that by this oath, Allah too attaches great importance and value to the ten nights of Dhul Hijjah. By taking full opportunity of this verse's great message to serve our Lord near to perfection in these 10 days, one can be sure of Allah's promise to attain forgiveness and a great status in this world and the best in Paradise.

Fasting in Shawwal

  

Shaikh Uthaymeen may Allah have mercy on him, said about fasting the six days of Shawwal:

“The wisdom behind fasting the six days of Shawwal is the same as the wisdom regarding other optional acts which Allah has ordained for His Servants in order to make the obligatory actions complete.  So fasting the six days of Shawwal is like the supererogatory Sunnah prayers [ar-Raatibah] which are performed after the obligatory prayers in order to complete any deficiencies in them. And from Allah, the Most High’s, Wisdom is that He made Sunnah [prayers] for the obligatory ones in order to complete them and raise them [in rank], so fasting the six days of Shawwal has this great benefit.”
